Police purchase orders from the University of Nevada, Reno reveal transparency issues.
Records show that the UNR Police Department does not specify what they spend their money on. Instead, they list the supplier and the “requisition type.” For example, on 2/26/2020 they list that they spent $11,784.95 on “goods and services” from Berry Enterprises. What are these goods and services? The public has no way of finding out.
On the other hand, The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Police Department details every purchase. For example, they list that they purchased 48 iPhones for 2,595.65 dollars. This makes accountability possible, since we know exactly what they spend money on.
