The University of Nevada, Reno Police Services follows Policy 300: Use of Force. Essentially, the Use of Force Policy guides how officers are supposed to use force in order to effect an arrest.
The policy calls for a yearly use of force analysis by the Operations Lieutenant for recommendations and the identification of trends. When asked for this analysis, the University denies having responsive records. In other words, UNRPD is seemingly not conducting a yearly use of force analysis, contrary to its own policies.
The Use of Force policy also requires officers to report any excessive use of force by fellow officers. Since at least 2010, the University denies any such instances have occurred.
