In internal emails from January 1 to February 26 of 2022, Mayor Goodman and City Manager Cervantes had some interesting things to say about Governor Sisolak lifting the mask mandate.

Just 3 days before the mandate was lifted, City Manager Cervantes told Mayor Goodman he was hearing that Governor Sisolak was “getting a lot of pressure from the gaming industry in particular to remove the mask mandate before the super bowl.” It is interesting to note that it was in fact lifted 3 days before the Superbowl.

Mayor Goodman had a lot to say about the Governors decision to lift the mandate, discussing it with both constituents and officials. Mayor Goodman, in line with the tone of her other emails, joyfully responded to a constituents concern surrounding the mandate proclaiming that “The states are flopping like pancakes now and no doubt Nevada’s governor will follow suit tomorrow — he tends to stay in line with California!” The sentiment that the governor follows California was riddled throughout the emails.
