Agenda Watch: Nevada County Commissioners

We read every upcoming County Commissioner meeting agenda. Here are some things to keep an eye on.

April 5: Clark County Board of Commissioners 

  • Authorize the creation of (1) full time Limited Perm Family Services Specialist I/II (C28) or equivalent position to expand the Step-Up program to include Project HHHOME (Housing, HIV Health Outcomes and Employment) which will serve HIV positive youth ages 16-24 and their families. (For possible action)
  • Approve, adopt, and authorize the Chair to sign a resolution establishing the Opioid Settlement Fund (2780). (For possible action)
  • Approve, adopt, and authorize the Chair to sign a resolution establishing the Community Housing Fund (2770). (For possible action)
  • Ratify and approve an Amendment to the Contract with Securus Technologies, LLC, for RFP No. 604763-18, for Inmate Telephone Service; and authorize the Chief Financial Officer or her designee to sign the Amendment; or take other action as appropriate. (For possible action)
  • Ratify and approve an Amendment to the Contract with Choices Group, LLC, for RFP No. 603692-15, for Treatment Services – Felony DUI Court Program; and authorize the Chief Financial Officer or her designee to sign the Amendment; or take other action as appropriate. (For possible action)
  • Ratify and approve an Amendment to the Contract with WestCare Nevada, Inc., for CBE No. 605114-18, for Participation in the Family Treatment Drug Courts Inpatient Residential, Transitional, Living and Intensive Outpatient Program; and authorize the Chief Financial Officer or her designee to sign the Amendment; or take other action as appropriate. April 6: Douglas County Board of County Commissioners

  • Discussion to approve an Interlocal Agreement between El Dorado County, California and Douglas County, Nevada to provide law enforcement and/or search and rescue assistance upon the request of either public agency for a term retroactively

April 6: Elko County Board of County Commissioners 

  • Discussion and consideration of approval to apply for a Family Preservation Court grant through the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services in the amount of $ 349,761.70. This grant requires a 25% match which will be met through other grant funding or in-kind.

April 5: Esmeralda County Board of County Commissioners

  • FOR POSSIBLE ACTION: DISCUSSION/DECISION: Discussion and Decision – Requesting an update on required items from POOL/PACT audit that needs to be done in the Jail area. Locks in kitchen, locks on gates, sally port, fence, and meal tray openings, fix jail doors, replace concrete in rec yard, fix fence by kitchen area and rec yard. (Sheriff Elgan)
  • FOR POSSIBLE ACTION: DISCUSSION/DECISION: Discuss and decide on first reading of Ordinance enacting an Esmeralda County Diesel Tax of Five (5) cents a gallon, repealing all laws in conflict and consideration, discussion and possible approval of that Ordinance. (Robert E.Glennen, III)
  • FOR POSSIBLE ACTION: DISCUSSION/DECISION: Discuss/Decide and approve ordering listening equipment for Commissioners Chambers for meetings held in chambers. This is required to be ADA compliant. (Michelle Garcia)

April 6: Eureka County Board of County Commissioners 

  • Discuss, approve, or deny whether to request from the County’s insurance and risk management providers an independent evaluation and audit accompanied by written findings, of the County Jail located in Eureka, Nevada, and temporary holding facility located in Crescent Valley, Nevada, and their current fitness to house or process any persons in custody. Note: This evaluation would include the question of fitness of the facility for interrogating, booking, housing, and otherwise handling inmates, no matter how minimal the time period of confinement.
